Who I am, what I am, is the culmination of a lifetime of reading, a lifetime of stories. And there are still so many more books to read. I’m a work in progress.

Did your hometown have a Carnegie Library? Mine did, and I loved it. It had wide-sweeping steps and tall wooden doors that creaked when opened. It had an aroma, mainly musty books. The children’s section was to the right, periodicals, and research books on the left, novels in the back, and right in the middle was Mrs. Lamb, the librarian. I loved Mrs. Lamb. She allowed me to type cards for the card catalog. I remember being in the library for hours. And for as long as I can remember, I have loved to read.
When I was maybe four years old, my mom had her tonsils removed. And I remember when she got home from the hospital, I wanted her to read me a book. Now, that really wasn’t an option, but at four, I didn’t realize that. I’m so thankful for my parents, who first exposed me to books and that I developed a love for reading.
